Eagle is slightly better than a Shark?

Well, since y’all know I am a big fan on FOTC, I will share with you a ‘lil gem I found. I have recently watched Eagle vs Shark (trailer below).  I have actually watched/listened to it about 10-15 times in the last two weeks. One of my favorite movies of all time now.

I asked myself why, why do I like it so much. Is it because it has Jemaine Clement? It’s filmed in New Zealand? Actors have really cool accents? Because it’s a classic romantic comedy? Dry humor? Nerdiness? Napoleon Dynamite-ish?

Honestly, all of the above. I would recommend it to anyone that likes to laugh. Though, I have yet to find anyone with my sense of humor that will actually laugh out loud at the same things I do. Watch it and let me know what you think.

Also, this is one of the very few movies Loren Horsley has done. I wish she would do more movies. I find her to be a great actress. Has a real genuine face and portrays so many emotions that feel convincing to me.

Side note: I recently came across FOTC new songs they have been preforming in the recent months. Most likely songs for FOTC season 2. I am very excited and cannot wait til it comes out. I want to make a goal right now to see them live. I haven’t ever said that about any band or comedian, but this is definitely something I want to do in my life.

I miss Sean Connery

Well, just went and saw Quantum of Solace. I am kinda upset that I hadn’t been watching the last few. Because if I had seen the last one I would have seen a better bond than what made me stop watching them. I wasn’t a fan of Timothy Dalton or Pierce Brosnan. But, I guess I missed the last james Bond that had Daniel Craig. I’d put him in 3rd of my favorite bonds. Sean Connery then Roger Moore of course.

Movie was good though. Lots of action, not as much ladies as I would have liked to have seen in a Bond movie, and a great car chase scene. Though, did I miss something? What happened to the cool gadget scene with Q? Did he die? And I was sad that they didn’t put the classic Bond movie intro… at the beginning. I guess it was satisfactory that the put it at the end at least.

I do miss Sean Connery though. I wish he wasn’t so old. He needed to do alot more movies. By far my favorite actor, both young and older.

“Ahhhh yah. Tonight we’re gunna make love.

You know how I know? Because it’s Wednesday.”

If you know where that is from, you would know who Flight of the Conchords is.  It’s only New Zealand’s fourth best gangster rap folk parody band ever.  And if you don’t know who they are, you are missing out.

Flight of the Conchords is a band made up of Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie. I was introduced to this duo almost two years ago from my best friend. I had seen them on their HBO special series, that ran for 12 episodes. After just one episode I was sold. It was one of the funniest things I had seen in a long while. I knew I had to have more of it and I decided to google them. Flight of the Conchords I found out, have been around for much longer than I had thought. They had done stand up comedy and a radio station as well.

They also have a second season planned on HBO, that was delayed by the writers strike. by the writers strike to have their second HBO season. Which was supposed to be out this year, now pushed to January of ‘09. Also, I was excited to hear they won a Grammy earlier this year too.

Doing a quick YouTube search you can find all of their songs, both stand up versions and the ones they did for the HBO series.

And yes, YouTube videos, I know you love them. Here is a few of my favorite vids from them.

I still wish I could beat box as well as that, or at least the confidence to keep trying.

From their HBO tv series

Now, if you don’t know who FOTC is, but you keep saying to yourself, ‘that guy looks familiar’, Jemaine Clement was in a number of Outback Steakhouse Commercials

Though, I feel like he sold himself out. As Outback is an Australian themed restaurant, and he is from New Zealand. From a few experiences I have had with actual people that lived in New Zealand, I know that the two countries are rivals. Kiwis and Aussies don’t like each other, though they do tolerate each other. But still, funny as usual.

Of the other actors in the series, some of them have other claims to fame as well.

Rhys Darby (the band manager, Murray) has done a few stand ups, though the only ones I can find he is a Totally different person. In FOTC he is a lot more calm I think.

Also, Arj Barker, has been in two Comedy Central Presents.

Kristen Schaal (Mel, the bands stalker, err I mean ‘fan’) has been on The Daily Show and did a voice on Aqua Teen Hunger Voice for one episode. She also has a vlog on YouTube of being her character in the series. I did find this too, not sure if it was shown in the states though.

And since Lord of the Rings was filmed in New Zealand, they used a lot of actors/extras from there as well.  Here is Bret McKenzie in a small role. (@:18)

Hope that wasn’t too much YouTube for ya.  Only way to really show my love for FOTC.
